Previous campaigns
ERoSH undertakes an annual campaign to promote our charitable aims, and it is the higher profile element of our work.
2007: 'I lead a sheltered life' campaign
ERoSH sought to challenge public perceptions and end the stigma attached to the sector by running its first consumer-focused campaign called “I lead a sheltered life”. Using real life examples of sheltered housing residents from across the UK, the campaign targeted the over 50s through the media backed by creative advertising.
Research conducted by ERoSH revealed high levels of happiness and well-being that tenants and residents enjoy from living in sheltered housing and was used to position sheltered housing as the consumer’s choice. An information guide offered basic advice for people who might have been unsure about whether sheltered housing was the right option for them and a freephone number and dedicated website were also set up to offer guidance and point people in the direction of their local providers.
2006: Grey Matters Day
Grey Matters Day celebrated the wisdom and knowledge of older people everywhere, the contribution older people have made and continue to make to our society and the contribution that sheltered and retirement housing makes to the health and well-being of thousands of tenants and residents across the UK. The Day aimed to encourage older people to engage in activities that help keep their grey cells healthy and active.
2005: The 20/20 Project
The 20/20 Project was a collaboration of nine housing and care organisations who sought to provide a vision for older people's housing and care services by the year 2020. Its 20/20 Vision report contains nearly 40 recommendations and was an outcome of a four month national consultation with registered social landlords, local authorities, primary care trusts, charities and individuals.
2003 and 2004: Supporting People At Home
Echoed the current agenda of Supporting People and re-enforced the message that a sheltered scheme is someone's home and part of the local community. It also implies the partnerships formed between the tenant, the landlord and the services and agencies which support tenants' needs.
2002: HIP! Week - Healthy, Independent People
Highlighted the partnerships between Housing and Health and emphasised the enormous (preventative) health benefits that can be gained from living within a sheltered / retirement housing scheme.
2000 and 2001: GoSH! Week - Going on to Sheltered Housing
It promoted sheltered and retirement housing as a positive housing option of choice for hundreds of thousands of older people.
