Speaking up for sheltered housing

ERoSH has produced a flyer targeted at all directors of adult social services. We ask all ERoSH members and regional networks to let housing colleagues know about this flyer and draw on the key messages in meetings with senior adult social care staff and Supporting People lead officers.

Nearly 40 recommendations targeted at housing and care providers, regional housing boards, national government and local authorities form the basis of the 20/20 Project's vision document. The report was the outcome of a four month national consultation with RSLs, LAs, PCTs, charities and individuals on the future provision of older people's services.

The Outcome Tool is endorsed by the ODPM. Sheltered housing providers should supplement their support planning process with this questionnaire to demonstrate the worth of sheltered housing to commissioners and funders.

Protection of Vulnerable Adults

This guidance will help sheltered, retirement and supported housing providers to improve their approach to adult protection and meet SP's quality requirements. A guide to making complaints for sherltered housing residents

Part of the confusion evidenced by Help the Aged's report, Nobody's Listening, was how older people could take their complaints further, when their landlord had responded but they were still dissatisfied. In addition to the Ombudman services (the Housing Ombudsman and the Local government Ombudsman), there is now the regulator for social housing, the Tenant Services Authority, and the new tenants' body, the National Tenant Voice. This complaints guide has been written to help older people identify which service they can approach, when and with what information, and how each might be able to help them.
