ERoSH Northern Ireland holds national conference for scheme coordinators
Living Longer - Living Better was the name of a conference organised by ERoSH Northern Ireland for scheme coordinators, held in September at the Hilton, Templepatrick.
Over 200 staff from sheltered schemes throughout Northern Ireland attended the event which focused on how scheme coordinators can assist tenants to enhance their quality of life.
Eirwen Malin, of the Welsh National Institute for Continuing Education delivered the keynote speech on promoting positive ageing through lifelong learning and this was followed by presentations from the Arts for Older People Network and the Voluntary Service Bureau on involving older people in community activities.
Speakers on nutritional therapy and life coaching provided advice and ideas for staff on coping with stress and the challenges of managing sheltered housing. The conference concluded with scheme Coordinators from six housing associations showcasing good practice examples of positive ageing from their schemes to inspire other staff.
