Sheltered housing in Parliament
Following on from October's adjournment debate on sheltered housing, the CLG Committee has published its report on the Supporting People programme. Access report here.
ERoSH broadly agrees with the report's conclusions and recommendations; particularly that that several proposals have been made to the Ministerial working group on sheltered housing, picking up the committee's view that 'the lack of clarity as to the future of accommodation-based services for older people' is one of two major issues requiring immediate and concentrated focus.
For a succinct summary of the key points of the report, especially those relevant to sheltered housing, see slides 15 and 16 in Imogen Parry's presentation (Available on our website - click on 'Exclusive to members' tab) that she gave to a recent CIH conference. Note that the presentation gives an overview of the recent policy and political context of the 'resident warden versus floating support' debate, which members may find useful. You are welcome to draw on it for internal purposes, subject to acknowledgement.
