Fire protection first for housing group
Protecting people and property from the dangers of fire has led to ERoSH member, Clwyd Alyn Housing Association appointing their own dedicated fire systems testing officer. The association, part of the Pennaf Housing Group, is the first registered social landlord in Wales to employ their own expert in fire protection systems.
Keith Morris, who has previously had 30 years' experience as a fire safety inspecting officer with North Wales Fire and Rescue Services, is employed by the Group to test alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers and fire exits of the shared communal areas of all of the association's properties which are in multiple occupation, including supported living schemes, extra care facilities for older people and blocks of flats where there are communal entrances, corridors and other shared areas.
He covers a geographic area from Holyhead in the north through Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham down to Welshpool in Powys.
'There's a lot of job satisfaction with the role, particularly where potential issues are identified and the organisation strives to respond and resolve them quickly,' said Keith, who is also on hand to give advice over fire safety throughout the housing group.
