Building up our membership
ERoSH has secured a new associate member, Ian Williams Limited.
Ian Williams, one of the largest facilities management companies in the UK, specialises in work with the social housing sector.
With a number of clients in care and older persons' housing including Hanover, Housing 21 and Anchor, the company wanted to ensure it was contributing to shaping best practice on maintaining such accommodation.
Mike Turner, development director at Ian Williams, said: "Every day our team works in sheltered schemes and homes occupied by older residents, so it is relevant for us to join ERoSH to share our experiences, and learn from others.
"While major works take place, it can be an exciting, but unsettling time. Our role is to minimise any disruption, and by using initiatives such as open days, welcome packs, jointly branded identity cards and bespoke training for staff, we hope to ensure residents feel secure in their homes and are consulted about improvement works.
"We understand that such properties require a different approach to ongoing repair and major improvement work and joining ERoSH reflects our ongoing work to improve communication with older people whilst work takes place in their sheltered and retirement housing."
