Eco-roof planned for state of the art Extra Care Housing scheme

ERoSH member Pennaf Group Housing has started work on a £7.7 million state of the art extra care scheme in Wrexham.

The development of the scheme at Plas Madoc will include many innovative features, including an eco-friendly roof area covered with plants to attract birds and butterflies.

The Pennaf Housing Group, based in St Asaph, recently awarded the £7.7 million contract to the Wates Living Space. The contract is bringing a boost to the local economy, protecting construction sector jobs, and heralding a new option in independent living for older people in the area.

Contractors have already started preliminary safety work on the site and the development of 52 one and two bedroom independent apartments is due to be completed by the end of next year.

The scheme will be managed jointly by Wrexham County Borough Council who will provide professional care and support services on site, and Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, who are part of the Pennaf Housing Group.

It will also include the very latest hi-tech call alarm service, and high quality community areas including a top class restaurant for residents, a hairdressing salon, well appointed lounges and function rooms.
