West midlands network gets election lowdown

The ERoSH west midlands regional network came together in June for a guest talk on the impact of the election on sheltered and supported housing.

Senior policy officer for the CIH Sarah Davis spoke to 13 members who attended the network meeting at Waterloo Housing, Solihull.

Sarah was joined by guest speaker Chris Jones, who is assistant manager (supported housing) at Waterloo Housing Association with responsibility for retirement living and disability issues.

Sarah spoke to the regional network about the outcome of the election and highlighted the key figures for housing in the government, Communities and Local Government (CLG), Department of Health and Department for Work and Pensions.

Sarah's presentation detailed the impact of the election on housing, health, care and support, the effects on Supporting People, the benefits of the electoral result and what the CIH is doing to work with sheltered housing providers.

Chris' presentation described the role of the well-being co-ordinator at Waterloo, which was established as a result of joint working with Staffordshire Supporting People.

There was also an optional tour of Brunswick House, a sheltered scheme at Waterloo Housing.
